Whether roads, bridges, or buildings, the integrity of a project starts with a solid knowledge of the ground in which it sits. JTC’s geotechnical division is led by Mr. Kevin Martin, a Professional Engineer licensed in the New England states. With the assistance of Mr. Ray Lavery, Mr. Martin oversees each and every geotechnical project.
JTC works with clients to determine the most cost-effective means of subsurface investigations, and will then
- Coordinate drilling operations (including site and boring layout)
- Provide DIGSAFE and utility clearances
- Collect and log soil, rock, water and other samples needed for analysis
- Obtain undisturbed samples
- Conduct appropriate laboratory testing
… and/or provide other services necessary to gather relevant information
Geotechnical evaluations include:
- Bearing capacity evaluation
- Settlement and consolidation analyses
- Slope stability review
- Liquefaction potential analysis
- Lateral earth pressure analysis
- Seismic movement
- Drainage considerations
… and/or other critical information pertinent to the project
Based on findings, JTC will make recommendations to the project’s design team for
- Foundation design
- Pavement design
- Retaining wall design
- Earthwork activities
- Construction practices
- Floor slab preparation
- Project specifications
… and/or other factors significant to the final structure
JTC will also provide geotechnical consulting for a project even if we did not do the initial subsurface investigations and reports. We can provide additional information, another viewpoint, or simply confirm that original recommendations are being met during the construction phase.
