JTC performed a geotechnical investigation to support the design of the paved apron reconstruction and drainage improvements. We coordinated ferry access to the island for drilling and utility locating subcontractors, as well as for our field staff. The field investigation consisted of:
- Pavement coring and sampling
- Pavement base course sampling
- Geotechnical soil borings
- In-situ infiltration testing
- Pavement and soil laboratory testing
Our investigation and testing results were analyzed to evaluate pavement reconstruction alternatives. JTC’s engineers provided a Pavement Reclamation Design to assess the outcome of in-situ pavement reclamation and issued a Geotechnical Engineering Report providing parameters for the design.
