The Saddleback Ridge Wind Project is a 34.2 megawatt, 12-turbine wind project located in Carthage, Maine. These new GE turbines use state-of-the-art technology that maximizes efficiency and produces more electricity with fewer towers.
Saddleback Ridge Wind's 12 GE 2.85 MW turbines will generate nearly 105 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean, renewable electricity each year. That is enough to power about 16,500 homes (based on 500 kWh per home per month) and reduces the amount of CO2 emissions by the equivalent of approximately 5.4 million gallons of gasoline.
Phase I of construction completed in December 2014 and 3 turbines are currently operational. Phase II of construction will commence in May 2015 for project completion in fall 2015.
At the wind farm we worked for Reed and Reed as an independent testing agency (QC) for the testing and inspection of the concrete and grout placements. A JTC professional was onsite for the concrete placements (foundations) as well as the grout placements (anchor bolts, base rings, trumpets). JTC also worked with the field engineers on site to determine the specialized testing needed for the grout.
Public Service of New Hampshire - Bow, NH
This $1-Billion project began in 2009. The work included the construction of a new scrubber system. The scrubber removes more than 30 thousand tons of sulfur dioxide emissions annually from Merrimack Station. Work also included the construction of a new chimney, through which steam emissions from the power plant’s two boilers exit, after having passed through the new “scrubber” that captures mercury and sulfur dioxide. The project significantly reduces emissions of mercury and sulfur dioxide. Merrimack Station is one of the cleanest coal-fired power plants in the nation.
JTC provided the following services:
• Welding testing
• Structural steel inspections
• Paint and coating testing
• Concrete reinforcing steel and concrete form
• Electrical inspections, masonry, and soils testing
