We currently have openings for Class 1 through 4 Construction Inspector positions. These positions will be a part of our Construction Engineering & Inspection Team and assigned to a variety of Maine Department of Transportation and/or municipal paving, transportation, and infrastructure projects. The assigned projects will likely be focused in the region local to the candidate, but travel may be required.
These positions require the individual to be a part of a project’s construction inspection team and operate independently on job sites representing the interests of the client. The client is typically MaineDOT or other city or town municipalities. Types of projects range from basic paving projects to full depth reconstruction and other infrastructure installation. The successful candidate must coordinate closely with the project’s Resident Engineer, work with a project team comprised of individuals of varying seniority and backgrounds, and learn quickly to consistently changing duties and project components. Knowledge of paving and road construction projects is required, with the experience required to obtain a NETTCP Hot Mix Asphalt Paving Inspector certification.
Basic Duties
- Monitor and inspect construction and paving activities for conformance to specifications
- Complete daily reports
- Coordinate with owner and contractor representatives for daily activities, identifying production and placement issues, and agreeing to quantities of material installed
- Coordinate and oversee material sampling and testing
- Perform data collection and verification
- Maintain records of equipment time or quantities of materials used
- Other similar tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of construction inspection experience
- NETTCP HMA Paving Inspector certification (or ability to obtain)
- Knowledge of MianeDOT specifications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to JTC Inc. employee handbook and related policies and procedures
- Proven track record of workplace safety and ability to abide by company health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
