John Turner Consulting (JTC), an environmental and engineering consulting firm serving New England, is seeking an accomplished Senior Industrial Hygienist to lead and grow our Massachusetts-based Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene services.
This is a strategic leadership role for a high-performing professional with the technical acumen, client network, and business development experience to manage and generate $3 million in annual revenue.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute hazardous building material surveys including asbestos, lead, mold, PCBs, and universal waste assessments across Massachusetts
- Oversee abatement design, air monitoring, and LEED Green Building certification support
- Manage industrial hygiene programs, indoor air quality assessments, and vapor intrusion evaluations
- Conduct moisture intrusion and microbial investigations, including remedial strategy development
- Provide senior oversight on radon, odor, and chemical exposure issues, and deliver health & safety training
- Supervise project teams and mentor junior staff to ensure technical excellence and regulatory compliance
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with public- and private-sector clients, contractors, and regulators (e.g., MassDEP)
- Write winning proposals and manage project financials, schedules, and deliverables with attention to quality and profitability
- Contribute to JTC’s strategic growth plan by expanding service offerings and client base within Massachusetts
Required Certifications
- Asbestos Project Designer, Inspector/Management Planner, or Monitor
- Lead Planner/Project Designer or Inspector/Risk Assessor
- Indoor Air Quality training or certification
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER
- OSHA 10/30 Construction Safety
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in industrial hygiene, IAQ, and hazardous building materials consulting
- Demonstrated success in managing a robust portfolio of work and generating $3M+ in annual revenue
- Skilled in client relationship management, technical leadership, and team mentorship
- Ability to perform fieldwork, manage emergencies, and work flexible hours when needed
- Effective communicator with a consultative, problem-solving approach
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
