I-90 Bridge Superstructure Replacement

This project consisted of the replacement of the existing bridge superstructure and partial replacement of the substructure. JTC worked with the demolition contractor to develop a three-stage procedure and sequence for demolition. The procedure consisted of using conventional excavation equipment placed on and below the existing bridge.

Design included rigging requirements and review of the existing bridge to support the equipment during both hoisting and hauling operations.

Detailed procedures were required to ensure the demolition proceeded within the engineering limitations of the bridge and the equipment.
